BIG KAISER announces mold chucks without heat shrinking

BIG KAISER, a global leader in premium high-precision tooling systems and solutions for the metalworking industries, announces its newest range of precision mold chucks, which do not require the use of heat shrinks to hold them in position. This means the chucks are a greener alternative to competitors’ products, as no power is required to clamp tools, and are also easier to use. There is no need for an additional, expensive heat-shrinking machine, saving space and money.

The new chucks are precision tool holders for mold making, clamped with two side lock screws. They provide a highly accurate solution, and run-out is guaranteed to be within 5µm at 4xØ. With no heat shrinking, the chucks do not deform due to heating, which guarantees a longer operational life.

The mold chucks provide internal routing to supply coolant directly to the machining area, for better chip evacuation and superior quality surface finishing. Their balanced design makes them suitable for high-speed machining up to 15,000rpm.

They have a slim tapered design, which makes them simpler to use and minimizes interference in space-constrained mold-making applications. This includes side wall machining, vertical wall machining, and cavity machining.

To cover different applications, a range of mold chucks is available in different lengths, between 135mm and 200mm, and with multiple diameter options from Ø3 to Ø20, as follows:

  • Six models for use with BIG-PLUS BBT40, with diameters from Ø3 to Ø12
  • Twelve models for use with BBT50 from Ø6 to Ø20
  • Seven models for use with HSK-A62 from Ø3 to Ø16
  • Eight models with HSK-A100 from Ø8 to Ø20
