BIG KAISER, a global leader in premium high-precision tooling systems and solutions for the metalworking industries, has expanded its lineup of face mill holders with its Smart Damper feature.

The new additions include the SDF57-FMH27DP-76-180, which has an outside diameter of 76mm. Compared to existing Smart Damper holders from BIG KAISER (with diameters of 47mm and 60mm), the new holder offers dramatically improved cutting performance and achieves double the cutting depth with the same cutting tool and machine.

Smart Damper enables quiet, vibration-free milling, even in long-projection assemblies. The integral design of the Smart Damper shortens the distance from the damping mechanism to the cutting edge. This produces higher damping effects on the tool assembly, minimizing chatter or vibration for better surface finishes and improved metal removal rates, and enabling more aggressive cutting parameters to be used even with the same cutting tool.

The new tool holder is expected to see most opportunities in applications where long reaches are common, and therefore vibration damping is essential. This includes construction equipment, wind turbines, aerospace, and the oil and gas industries.

BIG KAISER has also added different body lengths in its Smart Damper line-up, with a modular approach enabling it to meet a wide variety of customer demands. Additionally, custom orders for special body lengths are welcome. The new Smart Damper holder is available for BBT50, BCV50, and HSK-A100 shank styles.
